Maureen Ward (1918 – 2013) born and has lived her whole life in Dublin, Ireland. Married to Barney and together they became a big generous Irish family with 7 children, 21 grandchildren and a bunch of great grandchildren. Maureen was the absolute head of the family. She became a qualified seamstress working alongside her master tailor father in the family tailoring business. After her marriage to Barney she worked with him in his Electrical Business and later looked after the home and children as was customary in her day. Maureen continued her sewing projects making all the clothing for her own children and for extended family members. She also worked outside the home in many part-time jobs in order to supplement family income. Her final job was working in the famous Davy Byrne pubs helping with food preparation where she finally retired at 82 years of age to stay home and look after her husbands who was in ill health. The pictures have mostly been taken over the last 4 years of Maureen’s life. This very short selection of photographs at my pages, tries to reflect her personality in her everyday life at home and her surroundings.
